Wilson: President’s new energy initiative wages a war on American families

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2231, the Offshore Energy and Jobs Act.

Wilson stated, "Our nation is fortunate to have an abundance of energy resources that if accessed would create jobs, reduce prices at the pump, and promote energy independence. President Obama claims to support an all-of-the-above-energy plan. However, since he took office, 85% of our offshore drilling access has been restricted which destroys jobs and increases our dependence on foreign oil. The President's new energy initiative wages a war on American families with higher taxes, expensive energy bills, and increased government control in our daily lives.

"House Republicans understand that we must promote job creation, a clean environment, economic certainty, and hope for future generations. I am very pleased that House Republicans passed an all-of-the-above energy bill today that increases our offshore drilling capabilities, giving our weak economy the boost it needs. Let's put Americans back to work."
