Wilson Statement on One Year Anniversary of SCOTUS Obamacare Ruling

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) released the following statement in recognition of the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's ruling to uphold the government healthcare takeover bill known as "Obamacare."

"One year ago today, millions of American families across our great nation were extremely disappointed when the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Obamacare by a technicality as a tax that was initially denied by proponents. From day one, House Republicans have warned that the policies implemented in the government healthcare takeover bill would destroy jobs, increase the cost of health insurance, and restrict access to physicians. As the clock ticks closer to implementation, our nation's small business owners, former supporters of the legislation, and healthcare providers are seeing the writing on the wall.

"House Republicans have voted to repeal or defund Obamacare thirty-seven times because we know the destruction this policy will have on the American way of life. According to the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Obamacare will destroy up to 1.6 million jobs due to harmful restrictions limiting economic growth. America's small business owners should not be forced to layoff or cut back on employee's hours due dozens of unaffordable taxes and excessive regulations. Our weak economy cannot afford for this government over-reaching policy to go into effect.

"Additionally, full repeal of Obamacare will restore the doctor-patient relationship, allowing our mothers and fathers to make the best healthcare decisions for their families, not the federal government.

"It is my hope that the those in the Senate who have admitted implementation will be a "train wreck" will repeal Obamacare before it is too late", Congressman Wilson said.
