Wilson Statement on Execution of Saddam Hussein

COLUMBIA - Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) tonight released the following statement after the execution of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein:

“The execution of Saddam Hussein is justice for the Iraqi people. During a visit to ancient Babylon, I saw the killing fields of Saddam - fields where women and infants were bused to open pits, mercilessly murdered, and anonymously buried.

“Saddam should always be condemned as a dictator who harbored and supported terrorists and used chemical weapons to murder his own people.

“Iraq should use this milestone to promote a stable civil society that assists world peace.”
