Letter to the Editor: What the President Wants to Conceal

October 26, 2012
Editorial

Last Saturday, October 20, 2012, The State published a story written by the Associated Press entitled GOP pounces on Libya raid confusion. Within the article, the authors stated, "And Republicans have offered no explanation for why the president would want to conceal the nature of the attack." This statement could not be further from the truth.
In last month's terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, resulting in the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three additional service members, the Administration initiated a campaign to mislead the American people by placing blame on an offensive video. And what exactly lead the Obama Administration into concealing the terrorist nature of this attack on the obvious anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attack? The answer is quite simple.
Since the President took office, America has watched as his foreign policy strategy has failed. The Administration has created an international environment where terrorists are able to launch an attack against U.S. personnel without experiencing immediate consequences. The attack in Benghazi brought those failures to the attention of the world; therefore, the administration tried to spin the violence into anything other than a terrorist attack. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to conceal the depth and breadth of this foreign policy failure. From Mali to Yemen, and Lebanon to Pakistan, terrorist activity is on the rise. It is only a matter of time before almost every country across the region will exhibit signs of this Administration's failure, which will threaten American families at home and abroad.
