The premeditated, murderous invasion taking place on the soil of the sovereign and democratically-led country of Ukraine is the result of one individual – war criminal Vladimir Putin.

Not only are the people of Ukraine victims at the hands of the tyrant Putin, who has ordered his troops to kill innocent civilians and destroy cities, but the Russian people are being betrayed and suffering under his authoritarian rule.

Why does Ukraine matter for American families? Simply put: energy prices, inflation, and the empowerment of our adversaries across the world. Putin wants to recreate the Soviet empire, divide our allies in Europe, and expand his malign influence across the globe.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have begun the new year by touring the district and talking to the media about my legislative focus areas for 2022.

Joined by city and county officials along the way, our stops included West Columbia, Aiken, North Augusta and Barnwell. In each location, I spoke about the current challenges before us, reviewed some key accomplishments in 2021, and shared highlights of my goals moving forward.

As we come to the end of 2021, it is important to reflect on the year's accomplishments in Congress, while also acknowledge the challenges we face in welcoming the new year.

Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the men and women in uniform who have served our great country throughout its history.

The signing of the historic Abraham Accords on September 15, 2020 represented the single-most significant step toward stable and positive Arab-Israeli relations in modern history. Now, however, implementation of the Abraham Fund is in jeopardy.

I have long been focused on the state of our economy and how it affects our families, including several speeches made in recent weeks on the floor of Congress, and visits to small businesses. Unfortunately, the current status of the country is in particularly bad shape, directly affecting our pocketbooks and destroying jobs.

I am always grateful to serve the people of South Carolina's Second District. Although Republicans are not currently in the majority and were forced to deal with a false impeachment inquiry, I was able to work with my Republican colleagues to fight for our pro-job, pro-family and pro-America agenda. I am looking forward to the second half of the 116th Congress and working toward the goals outlined in my 2020 Legislative Agenda of limited government and expanded freedoms.
