Another Terrorist Attack in United Kingdom
Washington, D.C. – It is horrifying to hear of a second fatal terrorist attack in the United Kingdom in a month, following the October murder of Member of Parliament, David Amess. Sadly, the Global War on Terrorism continues as it moves from the safe haven of Afghanistan across the world. On Sunday, a taxi passenger asked to be dropped off at the Liverpool Women's Hospital, when an explosive device was set off upon nearing its destination. The passenger was killed, while the driver, David Perry, escaped with minor injuries. Hailed by Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson as ‘heroic,' Mr. Perry locked the doors, trapping the passenger, before escaping the burning taxi and preventing any further incident. These actions have caused the UK terror level to be raised to "severe," indicating that another attack was "highly likely," said Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The Global War on Terrorism is in our streets and those of our allies. We must do what we can to stop it and keep citizens safe, as an unknown number of persons on our terrorist watchlist have crossed the open Southern Border to conduct suicide bombings. America proudly stands with its valued ally, the United Kingdom. As a co-chair of the Congressional UK Caucus, it is so assuring to know the American people stand solidly with the citizens of the UK. # # # |
