Congressman Joe Wilson on Vote to Limit President Trump’s Power on Iran
On January 9, Congressman Joe Wilson released the following statement on the vote to limit President Trump's Power on Iran:
"House Democrats' vote to tie the hands of President Trump from being able to protect American families is again senseless partisan politics. Soleimani was a merciless terrorist that was directly and indirectly responsible for over 600 American deaths. Soleimani also recently directed rocket attacks on U.S. bases, killing an American 13 days ago, and organized an attack on a U.S. embassy last week.
"These acts of terror needed to be confronted. Soleimani's extremist violence has now ended thanks to President Trump's swift action. President Trump has shown that he is committed to promoting peace through strength to protect American families. This decision was vital to prevent another imminent attack and the correct course of action in the continuing Global War on Terrorism. Congress should not limit the President's authority when it comes to protecting American families against terrorists."
