Congressman Wilson On North Korea Travel Restrictions

July 21, 2017

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) made the following statement following the State Department's announcement the Administration would enact travel restrictions to North Korea:

"Today's announcement from the State Department that the United States will restrict tourist travel to North Korea marks a positive step forward in denying resources and bargaining power to the communist, totalitarian regime. I am especially grateful that many of the provisions of the bipartisan North Korea Travel Control Act that I introduced with Congressman Adam Schiff are reflected.

"I am eager to work with Secretary Tillerson and President Trump during this process, and as the United States continues to stand strong against the regime.

"Next week, I look forward to speaking before the House Foreign Affairs committee as we mark up the North Korea Travel Control Act—sending a clear message to North Korea that the United States is unified in our actions against the regime in Pyongyang."
