CONGRESSMAN WILSON ON WHO FUNDING SUSPENSION
On April 16, Congressman Joe Wilson, a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the President’s announcement to suspend funds to the World Health Organization (WHO):
“I am grateful to President Donald Trump for demanding accountability from the World Health Organization amid its mismanagement of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in service of the Communist Party of China. As a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I have worked hard to ensure oversight over U.S. aid to multilateral organizations like the UN, including most recently related to the UN's ties to Assad regime corruption networks in Syria.
“The President is absolutely right to hold U.S. aid to the WHO after the organization spent the last six months parroting Chinese propaganda and covering up critical Taiwanese data about the virus' transmission since at least late December 2019, putting American families at risk of infection.
“For over $400 million of hard-earned American taxpayer dollars every year, the WHO should do its job and cease being a political puppet of the Communist Party of China. I am thankful that we finally have a President that keeps his promises and puts America first!”
