Wilson Votes for Job Creation and Worker Assistance
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-SC, today voted for H.R. 3090 to promote economic growth through job creation as well extending unemployment benefits to who those who have lost their jobs. “Every American should have the opportunity of self-fulfillment through honest work,” said Rep. Joe Wilson. “However, since September 11th, more than one million have lost that opportunity, which is why today’s legislation that encourages the creation of new jobs is so vital.” The job creation business provisions included will conform Alternative Minimum Tax depreciation for property eligible for the special depreciation allowance and provide a 5-year carryback of net operating losses and would waive the AMT 90% limitation on the allowance of losses. “We also realize that even as the economy improves there are those today that have immediate needs, which is why this bill contains thirteen additional weeks of unemployment benefits with a possible further extension if unemployment increases,” said Rep. Wilson. “While these are crucial steps in our economic recovery, we must continue to promote growth and productivity by making the tax cuts of last year permanent, lowering the capital gains tax, and eliminating the death tax for good,” said Rep. Wilson. ###
