Republican House Members: Iraqi Government Continues Making Great Strides

The Iraqi province of Dhi Qar today became the second province turned over to full Iraqi control. In response, Republican House Members released the following statement:

“With Dhi Qar today assuming full responsibility for its law enforcement and civil operations, the Iraqis are continuing to prove they are capable of securing their own country.

“Dhi Qar is now the second of eighteen provinces to achieve independent status. In the weeks and months ahead, Coalition forces will continue working to ready other provinces for this transition. Soon, the world will see a fully functioning democracy in Iraq, and America and the world will be safer for it.”
