Speaker Appoints Wilson to House Policy Commitee

Today, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) announced the appointment of Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) to the House Policy Committee. The powerful House Policy Committee is led by Chairman Chris Cox (R-CA) and is considered the Republican Majority's principal forum for the consideration of forward-looking legislative initiatives. The committee is also tasked with the enunciation of official Republican policies, and the resolution of inter-jurisdictional policy disputes in the Republican Conference."Joe is going to be a great addition to the Policy Committee," said Speaker Hastert. "He's very involved in shaping the issues of the Republican majority in the House and we look forward to his leadership and input.""It's been a pleasure to work with Joe, he's an energetic member that is not afraid to help tackle the tough issues facing our nation," said Rep. Cox. "With his years of experience as a state legislator and his service in the military, Joe brings an important perspective to the table. Wilson, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Education & Workforce Committee, and Republican Study Committee, was elected to the House on December 18, 2001.
