Wilson Applauds Redistricting Decision

March 20, 2002
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-SC, welcomed the decision on Congressional redistricting by the Federal Court, keeping Fort Jackson in the Second District."It is important for Fort Jackson and for Richland County that the Fort remain in the Congressional District where it has always been located. I believe my membership on the Armed Services Committee will be helpful to the service members and civilian personnel," said Rep. Joe Wilson. "The Governor's effort to move the Fort was unexpected and if it had succeeded would have been detrimental to consistency of constituent services.""The Court's decision is a reaffirmation of the leadership of Senate Judiciary Chairman Glenn McConnell and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Harrison," said Rep. Wilson."Both chairmen welcomed input from all legislators to develop fair plans," said Rep. Wilson.###
