Wilson Appointed to House Armed Services Committee

Today, the Republican Steering Committee voted to appoint Congressman Joe Wilson to the Committee on Armed Services. Speaker Dennis Hastert informed Cong. Wilson today saying, “We look forward to your service on the committee at this critical time for our country.” Cong. Wilson expressed his pleasure in the vote, “I am delighted that my first assignment has been to the Armed Services Committee, as it has always been a priority to me and to the people of the Second District. I am eager to begin working with my fellow members on the committee in supporting our men in and women in uniform during this time of war.” Congressman Wilson represents the Second District of South Carolina, which includes Fort Jackson Army Base, McEntire Air National Guard Station, Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, and Beaufort Naval Hospital. Also, adjacent to the district is Shaw Air Force Base. The Congressman is a 28 year veteran of the Army Reserves and the National Guard. He currently serves as a Colonel in the Army National Guard as Staff Judge Advocate of the 218th Mechanized Infantry Brigade. Also, three of Congressman Wilson’s sons serve in the military, being a 1st Lieutenant in the Field Artillery of the South Carolina Army National Guard, an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, and a cadet in the Army ROTC at Clemson University. ###
