Wilson Requests Pay Be Withheld Until Shutdown Is Resolved
October 3, 2013
Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement after sending a letter to Chief Administrative Officer Dan Strodel of the House Committee on Administration requesting that his pay be withheld until the government shutdown is resolved.
Congressman Wilson stated, "Because of President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Reid's failure to negotiate, American families are experiencing a shutdown. Thousands of families at Fort Jackson and the Savannah River Site could potentially face smaller paychecks as a result of this dilemma. If my constituents are feeling this pain, Members of Congress should as well."
