Press Release

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement after Governor Rick Perry was offered the position of Secretary of Energy by President-elect Donald Trump:

“America is fortunate that President-elect Donald Trump intends to nominate former Governor Rick Perry to serve as Secretary of Energy. I look forward to working with him in the coming months to discuss the Savannah River Site and other energy priorities of South Carolina’s Second Congressional District. I was grateful to serve in the Reagan Administration as Department of Energy, Deputy Legal Counsel with Secretary Jim Edwards. I know Governor Perry’s background of positive growth will create jobs.”

“With Governor Perry, I am confident we can accomplish an ‘all of the above’ energy policy— one that includes finishing Yucca Mountain, supporting SRS, completing MOX, building the Keystone Pipeline which produces jobs at Michelin of Lexington, and advancing energy independence.”
