Wilson Statement on New Afghanistan Strategy

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02), Ranking Member of the Military Personnel Subcommittee, issued the following statement today in response to the announcement of President Obama’s new strategy for operations in Afghanistan.

“Today’s announcement by President Obama based on his consultation with our military commanders seems to be a good faith effort to advance stability in Afghanistan and in the region as a whole. I am cautiously optimistic that this new strategy will move our operations and allied efforts in Afghanistan in a more positive direction and help achieve the larger and equally important goal of stability and security in the region. I am, as ever, confident in our military’s ability to carry out successfully the mission they are given, and I will work with my colleagues to ensure our military personnel have every resource necessary to complete their mission and to protect American families.”
