Wilson Statement on SCOTUS Nominee

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement after President Obama announced his nominee for the Supreme Court:

“I support the Senate majority standing firm to have the next President to fill the Supreme Court vacancy. The voters should know the consequence of their vote. A liberal appointee will reinterpret the Constitution beyond its meaning—denying citizens the right to vote for legislators to develop laws. A conservative appointee, in the tradition of Justice Antonin Scalia, will promote the Constitutional role of a justice to interpret law, not make law.”
