Wilson: Thousands of New Jobs in South Carolina Sign of Growing Economy

July 20, 2004

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Reports 12,000 New Jobs in S.C. during June

Today, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) applauded a report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (U.S.B.L.S.) that indicated 12,000 new nonfarm-related jobs were created in South Carolina during the month of June."I am pleased that we continue to see steady job growth in South Carolina," said Congressman Wilson. "South Carolina is among the top three states in the nation for percentage of employment gains in June. This shows that the Palmetto State is poised to play a big role in our nation's economic recovery."According to the U.S.B.L.S., South Carolina has increased nonfarm-related employment by 31,400 jobs since the beginning of 2004. From May to June, total nonfarm-related employment increased in 41 states. South Carolina was among the top five states in total employment gains, and had the third largest over-the-month percentage increase at 0.7%."Despite continual partisan rhetoric to the contrary, America's economy is growing at its fastest rate since Ronald Reagan was president. Today's job growth numbers are a great indication that this positive trend is continuing and is beginning to reach to all parts of our nation."###https://www.bls.gov/news.release/laus.nr0.htm
