Wilson Urges Reconsideration of Keystone XL Pipeline Delay

November 15, 2011

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) released the following statement after attending a press conference with House Republicans in response to the Administration's announcement to postpone the Keystone XL Pipeline:

"Once again, the decision to delay the Keystone XL Pipeline until 2013 is yet another prime example of how out of touch this Administration remains with the needs of so many unemployed American workers.

"Last month, I was fortunate enough to visit Alberta, Canada, and witnessed first-hand the Canadian oil sands and the positive impact that exploration has for the American people. The construction of this project will create 120,000 new jobs, without costing taxpayers a dime, and help stimulate our economy.

"With more than 14 million Americans still unemployed, I urge the President to put party politics aside, reconsider this decision, and begin focusing on putting American's back to work and promoting small business job creation."
