Wilson, Schneider, Dunn, and Neal Introduce Resolution Recognizing the 120th Anniversary of the U.S.-Bulgaria Relationship
Washington, DC – Co-Chairs of the Congressional Bulgaria Caucus Joe Wilson (R-SC), Brad Schneider (D-IL), Neal Dunn (R-FL), and Richard Neal (D-MA) introduced a resolution recognizing the 120th anniversary of the bilateral relationship between the United States of America and the Republic of Bulgaria.
“In June 2002, I founded the Congressional Bulgaria Caucus because of the importance of the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Bulgaria since their independence. In 1990, I was grateful to be an observer in Bulgaria for the first post-communist election and saw firsthand how important democracy is in Bulgaria. The people have been an inspiration to me with their personal capabilities and extraordinary heritage. Together, our two nations have grown with mutual benefit for economic opportunities and national security,” said Congressman Wilson.
“On this auspicious 120th anniversary, I’m pleased to recognize Bulgaria as America’s close friend and ally, and a place to where so many great Illinoisans trace their roots. I look forward to continuing to work with Bulgaria to secure the Black Sea, support Ukraine, combat terrorism, and protect the rules-based international order. Over the next 120 years, I’m confident our peoples will grow ever closer through cultural exchange, trade, and innovation,” said Congressman Schneider.
“I am proud to celebrate the remarkable 120th anniversary of the enduring friendship between the United States and Bulgaria. This milestone is a testament to the strength of our relationship and the shared valuesthat unite our nations. I look forward to continuing to work towards a prosperous future for both our nations,” said Congressman Dunn.
“In this commemorative year, we recognize that the relationship between Bulgaria and the United States has never been stronger! Bulgaria and the United States stand side by side to protect the freedom and common heritage of our peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty, and the rule of law. We are expanding our defense partnership to enhance security in the Black Sea region and the Western Balkans. We are working together to permanently end our dependence on Russian energy sources, including by expanding our civil nuclear cooperation. This resolution honors our enduring friendship, marks the significant milestones, and celebrates the people-to-people ties that are the bedrock of this unbreakable bond,” said Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Panayotov.
