Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02), a member of the House Committee on Education and Labor, issued the following statement today after the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards announced that 176 teachers from the Second Congressional District of South Carolina recently earned National Board Certification. This is the highest number of newly certified teachers in any congressional district in the country.

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) today sent a letter to Chairman Bob Filner and Ranking Member Steve Buyer of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee requesting a hearing on the apparent mishandling and destruction of documents at certain regional offices of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Wilson noted that the Veterans' Affairs Regional Office in Columbia, South Carolina is under investigation by the VA for the mishandling and shredding of 95 documents.
