On October 4, we recognized National Manufacturing Day and the importance of manufacturing in the United States. Manufacturing is also a major economic driver in South Carolina, with $33.89 billion in manufactured goods exports in 2018, I am thankful for the jobs created.

Through the years, South Carolina has remained competitive in creating manufacturing jobs for South Carolinians through commitment to regulatory reform, apprenticeship programs, and state incentives.

The United States maintains the strongest military in the world. Our freedoms, our liberties, and the greatness of this country are secured by the brave men and women who sign up to serve. We must honor the sacrifices these men and women make when they lay down their lives for their country. It is unacceptable that surviving military spouses are still subject to the "Widow's Tax" after their loved ones die in service to their country. The time for repealing this unjust law is now.

It is an honor and a privilege to represent the servicemembers and veterans of South Carolina's Second Congressional District this Memorial Day. The Midlands are known as the "The Most Military Friendly Community in America" which is something our communities take pride in owning. We have 417,515 Veterans in South Carolina with many living in the Midlands. While it appears that lately there is a lack of uplifting or positive news, my team hopes you find some encouragement in this message.
