Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. This piece of legislation prohibits the use of federal funds for abortion or healthcare plans that cover abortion, except in the cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is at risk. Due to the nature of the Affordable Care Act, the plans offered in the government healthcare exchanges do not appropriately identify whether or not a specific plan excludes abortion.
