Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 807, the Full Faith and Credit Act. When USC Aiken celebrated the official opening of its Veteran Student Success Center Sunday, it was fitting that the strip of fabric used in the ribbon-cutting ceremony was a patriotic red, white and blue. The facility, located in the school's Gregg-Graniteville Library, is designed to aid men and women who served in the military in making the transition back to civilian life.
"Pete the Cat" is a popular series for children, and Aiken Elementary School first graders were happy to hear one book read to them by a special guest on Thursday – U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.

On Friday, the Department of Defense and other government agencies will suffer a $1.2 trillion budget cut, known as "sequestration." This policy was adopted in July 2011 when congressional leadership negotiated with the White House to raise our debt ceiling, preventing the U.S. Treasury from defaulting on our loans.
President Ronald Reagan's approach to protecting our national security was to provide peace through strength. The United States military has successfully remained the most superior power in the world by practicing this theory. Due to the passage of the Budget Control Act of 2011 last July, the Department of Defense is expected to suffer an automatic across-the-board $500 billion budget cut. These cuts will not be used to reduce our growing national deficit, but instead will be shifted from defense to other departments and agencies.

repository at Yucca Mountain.
While many of these candidates are running on platforms aimed to reduce the deficit and increase jobs, the termination of Yucca Mountain will do just the opposite.
