On Sunday, September 18, 2005, over 6 million Afghans voted in their country's first parliamentary elections. Yesterday, Congressman Wilson (R-SC) praised the successful elections on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives: "Mr. Speaker, Sunday's elections in Afghanistan are another example of progress in the Global War on Terror," said Wilson. "Millions of Afghans bravely defied terrorists, just as Iraqis in January, when they cast their ballots in the first free parliamentary elections in the history of Afghanistan.
