It is an honor and a privilege to represent the servicemembers and veterans of South Carolina's Second Congressional District this Memorial Day. The Midlands are known as the "The Most Military Friendly Community in America" which is something our communities take pride in owning. We have 417,515 Veterans in South Carolina with many living in the Midlands. WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) and U.S. Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-03) today announced H.R. 553, the Military Surviving Spouses Equity Act, has reached over 250 bipartisan co-sponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Military Surviving Spouses Equity Act eliminates an unfair deduction of benefits which is placed on surviving spouses of service members when their spouse passes away during active duty. It also applies to surviving spouses of retirees who pass away because of a service-connected cause.

"Heartbroken by the tragic attack at the Chabad of Poway synagogue on the last day of Passover. The congregants gathered that day were targeted because of one reason only: they were Jews.
