Today, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) and Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) announced that the U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a $5.3 million contract to FN Manufacturing, Inc. (FNMI), of Columbia, South Carolina. As part of a $24.3 million continuing contract to FNMI, this funding will be used to modernize machine guns. "Once again, the U.S. Department of Defense is entrusting FNMI to provide the finest military equipment available to our troops." said Wilson.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) announced that the U.S. Department of Energy has awarded a $1 million grant to the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD), of Columbia, South Carolina. SCEMD will use the funding in Aiken, Allendale, and Barnwell counties to support emergency preparedness and response activities associated with a potential release of hazardous materials from the Savannah River Site (SRS)."This contract is great news for the counties surrounding the Savannah River Site," said Congressman Wilson.

Wilson Announces $200,000 Award for Ridgeland's Wagon Branch ProjectWASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a $200,000 grant to the town of Ridgeland, South Carolina, for the Wagon Branch Project. By allowing Ridgeland to extend its water lines to the Wagon Branch community, this funding will help improve water quality in the area. "The citizens of the Wagon Branch community have suffered with poor water quality for too many years," said Wilson.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) wrote to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in opposition to newly announced plans to lift a statutory rule that limits Guard and Reserve deployments to two years. In a separate letter to House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter, Wilson also requested a Congressional hearing to examine the length of National Guard deployments.
